Seating Policy

The performance of Treasure Island will have unreserved seating and we encourage audience members to bring their own picnic blankets and chairs. There will be specific areas for those with chairs, and those with blankets.

Entrance to The Deans Garden is via the East Lawn and Almonry Garden.

Wet-weather policy

Performances will normally continue in the event of wet weather. We would encourage audience members to bring umbrellas and waterproof clothing. If a performance is cancelled, then all tickets remain valid for any other performance and we will refund or exchange your tickets, should a performance be cancelled by us.

Babes in Arms

To comply with fire regulations and licensing, every person in the venue, regardless of age, must have a valid ticket.   Any child under the age of 18 months may attend for free if accompanied by an adult with a valid 'Adult with Babe in Arms' ticket but the child must sit on the lap of an accompanying adult. Children over the age of 18 months must have their own ticket charged at the applicable rate. 

Once in the venue, please consider the customers around you when handling your baby, do not block the view of the child or patron behind you and if baby cries, please take him/her out of the theatre promptly. 

Individual 'Adult with Babe in Arms' tickets can be purchased online or from the Box Office.

Disabled Access including 1:1 Carers

Disabled customers who meet the requirements for proof of disability, as detailed below, will be able to purchase a ticket for themselves at the standard Adult, Concession or Admit 1 price and also receive a reduced rate 1:1 Carers ticket. Carers must be capable of supporting the disabled person’s needs in the event of an emergency or evacuation of the venue. Carers must be aged 16 plus.

Please note: this performance is performed in the Dean’s Garden so there is no fixed seating and the ground may be bumpy in places. There is separate disabled access to the Dean’s Garden.

How do we get into the Dean’s Garden?

Access to the Dean’s Garden is via the Almonry Gardens on the Ely High Street or via the East Lawn of the Ely Cathedral. There will be signs to follow. There will be a one-way system in and out of the garden via the main gates. When cueing for the garden, please adhere to the social distancing markers.

Please note that Disabled access is via the East Lawn.


Please bring your tickets via phone or print out. All tickets will be scanned upon entry by our friendly front of house team. Seating is not provided. We ask that you bring your own seats and picnic and blankets. When you arrive, please ensure you sit in the appropriate areas depending on your seating arrangements.

Is there Parking?

There is no parking on site, however the nearest car parks are Forehill Car Park and St Mary’s Street Car Park.

Can we bring Picnics?

We welcome audience members to enjoy the gardens pre-show and bring their own picnics. Picnic baskets provided by Ely Hampers are also available to be purchased when booking your ticket. Bins shall be provided for rubbish.

Will there be chairs?

We encourage audience members to bring their own seating (chairs, picnic blankets). There will be NO seats available on site.

Will there be toilets onsite?

There will be toilets, including disabled toilets, available onsite.

What time can we arrive?

The gates will be open one hour prior to the performance. 

Doors open at 5pm for 6pm Evening Performances. 

Doors open at 1.30pm for 2.30pm Matinees.

Doors open at 1pm for 2pm Matinees.

How long is the performance?

The performance is in two acts and will last approx. 2 hrs with 20 minute interval.

Will the weather effect the performance?

The performance will be taking place unless you have been notified otherwise. If it rains, we do encourage you to bring umbrellas and coats. Performances will only be cancelled if extreme weather conditions are deemed dangerous for the production to take place. We will refund or exchange your tickets, should a performance be cancelled by us.
